At the ILC we always welcome applications to study for a postgraduate degree. through the University of Durham we can offer the following programmes:

  • PhD (typically 3 years full time)
  • MPhil
  • MSc by research

We have excellent facilities to support PhD studies within the ILC, including:

  • A fully equipped, state-of-the-art geotechnical laboratory dedicated to landslide research
  • A Land Rover to allow field studies in remote locations
  • A lightweight shell and auger drilling rig
  • Terrestrial laser scanning equipment
  • Our own computer systems
  • A high quality digital photogrammetry system

We have extensive experience with working with students from the UK and overseas, and can offer a friendly working environment.  We operate in many countries around the world (current examples include New Zealand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Nepal, Bhutan, Gibraltar, Portugal and Japan).  We can support field-, computer and lab-based studies.

Please drop us a line to see whether we can work together.  However, we cannot usually provide funding for unsolicited applications.
